Innowwide funds SMEs from EU member states, Iceland, Israel, Norway, Switzerland, Türkiye, and the UK to conduct market feasibility studies for innovative products or services in emerging markets across the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. Each project receives up to €60,000 in grant funding to explore commercial viability in target regions.
About this grant
Innowwide supports innovative SMEs to assess the viability of their commercial or research ambitions for internationalization in target countries. The programme funds market feasibility projects where SMEs conduct preliminary technical, market, legal, and socioeconomic assessments to validate the feasibility of their innovative business solutions (product, process, or service) within new and emerging global value chains. Projects are six months in duration and must be conducted in collaboration with local organizations based in a target country located in Africa, Americas, Asia, or Oceania. SMEs can participate at different stages, such as when exploring or developing an R&D project idea, or after a successful R&D project to understand whether their new product, process, or service might be commercialized in targeted global markets. The innovation being explored must have a minimum Technology Readiness Level of 4 and not exceed TRL 8 in the target country.

How it's scored
Applications are evaluated by two remote experts using three criteria: Excellence (threshold 18 out of 30 points, covering project objectives, ambitiousness, degree of innovation, competitive advantage, and alignment with SME business strategy); Impact (threshold 24 out of 40 points, covering market size, impact on end user, market access and risk, and societal/environmental/ethical/gender relevance including SDGs); and Quality and efficiency of implementation (threshold 18 out of 30 points, covering capacity and role of applicant and main subcontractor, availability of resources, realistic project management and planning, and reasonable cost structure). Each expert prepares an individual evaluation report with scores and comments. The rapporteur drafts an evaluation consensus report. Top 105 proposals scoring above threshold progress to independent panel review and ethics review. An independent evaluation panel establishes final ranking based on evaluation results.
