About this grant

The Access to Energy Fund is jointly initiated by the Dutch government and FMO in 2007 to support private sector projects aimed at providing long-term access to energy services in emerging markets and developing countries. The fund addresses the challenge that in many fast-growing developing countries, electricity demand continues to rise while power infrastructure struggles to keep up. The fund supports energy generation, transmission and distribution projects with a focus on sustainable energy solutions. It recognizes that finite fossil fuel sources are being depleted rapidly and that climate change requires affordable, sustainable energy solutions for the global economy and planet.
