About this grant

The Accreditation programme enables organizations to become GCF Accredited Entities, positioning them to design and implement climate action projects funded by the Green Climate Fund. Accreditation is the initial phase of GCF's due diligence process, assessing whether organizations have the capacity for strong financial management and safeguarding of funded projects and programmes. Organizations with specialized capacities in driving climate action—including public, private, non-governmental, sub-national, national, regional, or international bodies—can apply. Successful applicants must demonstrate clear, detailed, and actionable climate change projects or programmes for mitigation and/or adaptation, and meet GCF fiduciary standards, environmental and social safeguards, and gender requirements. Once accredited, entities work alongside countries to develop project ideas and submit funding proposals for GCF Board approval. Accredited Entities carry out activities including development of funding proposals and management and monitoring of projects and programmes. Countries may access GCF resources through multiple entities simultaneously.
