About this grant

This Horizon Europe Innovation Action supports the development and deployment of bio-based additives that enhance the recyclability and biodegradability of polymers and plastics. Projects should demonstrate how these additives improve material circularity whilst applying safe and sustainable by design principles. The call prioritises industrial biotechnology and bioprocessing technologies, including fermentation and biocatalysis approaches. Eligible applicants include startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, large companies, universities, research institutions and consortia based in EU member states and associated countries. Projects must be at prototype, pilot or scale-mature stage. Consortium-based approaches are preferred. Grants of up to €7,000,000 per project are available. Applications open on 23 April 2026 and close on 22 September 2026.
