About this grant
Biodiversity Information for Development (BID) is a multi-year programme funded by the European Union and led by GBIF with the aim of enhancing capacity for effective mobilization and use of biodiversity data in research and policy in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Pacific islands. The programme supports capacity enhancement activities and projects to mobilize biodiversity data and strengthens national and regional biodiversity information facilities in these regions. Funding has focused on data that support regional policy needs, particularly in connection with protected areas, threatened species and invasive alien species. The programme aims to enhance individual and institutional capacity at regional scale to mobilize and use FAIR and open data on biodiversity in research and policy to the benefit of science and society.
