About this grant

BlueScope X is an early-stage investment program that identifies, inspires, and invests in companies that will help shape the future of the steel industry and contribute to global sustainability. The program addresses the critical challenges of decarbonization in iron and steelmaking, renewable energy transition, and sustainable outcomes in the built environment. BlueScope X invests in two key areas: end-to-end decarbonization of the iron making process through breakthrough technologies that reduce carbon emissions, and technologies that enhance efficiencies in the built environment through industrial and commercial building products and systems. The program provides portfolio companies with deep industry knowledge and expertise, access to BlueScope's global network and relationships, and capital for both seed and later-stage rounds of funding.

Eligibility

The program invests in early-stage companies globally that are developing technologies and solutions in two focus areas: decarbonization of iron and steelmaking processes, and efficiency-enhancing technologies for the built environment. Specific investment areas include electricity generation and storage, green hydrogen production, raw material inputs that reduce emissions, new iron and steel making processes, hydrogen utilization, carbon capture and utilization, waste gas and heat recovery, building design and fabrication innovations, prefabrication methods, circular construction, on-site software and technology solutions, robotics and hardware, and materials and technologies that improve finished buildings.
