About this grant

The Carbon Markets Access Toolkit is a resource developed by the Voluntary Carbon Markets Integrity Initiative (VCMI) to provide step-by-step guidance to help policymakers in emerging markets and developing economies decide how best to generate and sell carbon credits in order to access climate finance, catalyze innovation, and de-risk investment. The Toolkit is part of VCMI's broader Access Strategies Program, which is designed to find and fill gaps in carbon market participation around the world by partnering with governments in emerging markets and developing economies to build the foundations for high-integrity carbon markets that work for people, nature, and the planet. The Toolkit is specifically aimed at governments and policymakers, offering dedicated support to unlock finance flows through voluntary carbon markets. VCMI updated and relaunched the Carbon Markets Access Toolkit in August 2025, reflecting ongoing efforts to strengthen government engagement with high-integrity carbon markets.
