About this grant

The Greenovation Circularity Challenge is an accelerator and prize programme run by the EarthON Foundation in collaboration with Greenovation Hub and SwitchON Foundation. It addresses a systemic bottleneck in India's circular economy: large volumes of plastic, textile, and food waste are generated each year, but much of it never returns to the economy as a usable resource because recyclables become contaminated, reusable textiles are discarded, and organic waste goes to landfill. The challenge seeks affordable, scalable, and climate-positive innovations that recover value from waste and strengthen circular supply chains. The programme is organised around three action pillars. The plastic pillar covers recovery, reuse, and recycling technologies, including collection and smart sorting, mechanical, chemical, and enzymatic recycling, small-scale recycling for multilayer and low-value plastics, bio-based alternatives, refill and circular packaging systems, material traceability, and business models that strengthen waste picker and informal recycling networks. The textile pillar covers collection and sorting, fibre identification and grading, fibre-to-fibre recycling, upcycled products, repair, resale and take-back models, sustainable materials, and digital product passports. The food pillar covers post-harvest and shelf-life technologies, surplus redistribution, organic waste recovery, composting and biogas, food by-product valorisation, and circular food supply chain traceability. The reward is a total prize pool of INR 20 lakh, part of which provides catalytic capital for winners to implement and scale field solutions. Selected cohort members also take part in a two-day residential bootcamp covering technology validation, business models, investment readiness, and go-to-market strategy, and gain visibility with policymakers, climate finance networks, and investors. High-potential graduates may access follow-on investment of up to INR 4 crore through the EarthON Blended Finance Platform and the GreenovatiON Fund, plus mentorship via EarthON Gurukul.
