About this grant
The Nick Maughan Family Foundation was set up in 2020 by the British-born Bahamian philanthropist Nick Maughan CBE to give a home to his charitable work. It builds and funds programmes that give young people a safe place, a structure and a way forward, and most of this work begins with sport. The foundation organises its work under four pillars: Sport, Education, Communities and Environment. Under Sport, the foundation founds and funds youth sport programmes for young people at risk of exclusion, violence and homelessness. Flagship projects include BoxWise, a youth boxing charity operating across England and Wales and abroad, and the Bahamas Boxing Academy in Nassau. The Bahamas-UK Sports Academy, incorporated in Nassau in October 2026 with British High Commission involvement, is described as having funding from the foundation to begin its work and award its first grants. Under Education, the foundation funds bursaries, builds schools and supports research that widens opportunity for young people. Under Communities, it serves young people facing homelessness and violence in the UK, and mothers and newborns in Eastern Uganda, including through the Nick Maughan Maternity Centre in Mbale. Under Environment, it supports wildlife conservation across Africa and coral restoration in the Caribbean. The page describes the foundation as privately funded and states that it does not accept donations. It does not describe an open grant application programme for external organisations.
