Summary
This grant funds research on orangutans to advance scientific understanding and conservation of great apes. It is open to research institutions and organizations working on primate conservation and biodiversity.
About this grant
Stiftung Mensch und Tier Freiburg is a foundation that promotes global development cooperation, the protection and research of great apes, and projects for people in particular hardship. The foundation does not implement its own projects but enters into long-term partnerships with supported organizations to enable sustainable change in development projects and generate evidence-based new knowledge in research. Beyond financial support, the foundation provides assistance through knowledge sharing and facilitating connections. The foundation respects its partners as experts in their respective fields. The foundation supports projects in development cooperation where partner organizations work closely with local populations to improve living conditions for poor, disadvantaged, or insecure populations. It also supports protection and research of great apes, including orangutan research and bonobo protection, recognizing that great apes help us understand our place as part of the environment rather than rulers of it. Additionally, the foundation supports projects that facilitate participation of people with disabilities in public and cultural life.
