About this grant

The European Climate Initiative (EUKI) funds selected projects that promote cross-border climate action in Europe. The initiative addresses the challenge of accelerating climate action through collaborative, transnational projects working in key areas including climate-neutral mobility, climate policy, carbon removals and sinks, energy transition and climate-neutral buildings, just transition, and sustainable economy. EUKI supports projects that demonstrate cross-border cooperation with partner organisations in several European countries, with a regional focus on Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, the Baltic States, and the Western Balkans. At least half of project funds must go to target countries in these regions. The programme provides both funding and capacity-building support, including training through the EUKI Academy and a community platform for exchange of ideas and expertise among climate action practitioners across Europe.

Eligibility

Eligible organisations are non-governmental organisations (NGOs), regional or local authorities, non-profit enterprises, or universities and other educational institutions. The organisation must be headquartered in an EU member state or one of the following EU candidate countries or potential candidate countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, or Serbia. Projects must involve cross-border cooperation with partner organisations in several European countries and work in one or more of the designated thematic areas. EUKI funds projects in all EU member states and the Western Balkans candidate countries, with a regional focus on Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, the Baltic States, and the Western Balkans. At least half of the project funds must go to target countries in these regions.

How it's scored

Project outlines are reviewed based on fixed criteria at Step 1.
