About this grant

The EuroHPC Joint Undertaking is a public-private partnership between the European Union, participating Member States, and 3 private partners aimed at developing and maintaining a world-leading, federated, secure, and hyperconnected European ecosystem for high-performance computing, quantum computing, and data and service infrastructures. The initiative supports the development of demand-driven and user-oriented high-performance computing systems based on supply chains that ensure the availability of components, technologies, and expertise while limiting disruption risks. It encompasses infrastructure procurement and operation, development of optimized applications, expansion of access to HPC infrastructure for public and private users, and support for key competency development in HPC across European science and industry. Applicants can request free access to computing time on EuroHPC supercomputers or participate in calls for project proposals. Support is provided as grants or contract awards, with funding amounts depending on the type of planned activity. The funding procedure is two-staged: applicants first submit a project sketch to EuroHPC in English, and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) supports participation in calls through its own funding programme.
