About this grant

The Fifth Edition of the Transnational Call for Projects under the Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) European Partnership, in the field of the Future City, is an ANR-hosted call funding transnational research and innovation projects on urban challenges. The partnership, continuing the JPI Urban Europe programme under Horizon Europe, brings together almost 31 countries and more than 67 partners, and aims to help cities transition toward more sustainable economies and ways of functioning, in line with the European Green Deal, the UN SDGs, the New Urban Agenda, the EU Urban Agenda and the Paris Agreement. The 2026 call is organised around Transition Pathways: Positive Energy Districts (PED), the 15-minute city (15mC), and Circular Urban Economies (CUE). This year a transversal topic applies across all three domains, focused on innovation and open only to proposals using an innovation-oriented approach (IOA), with a transnational eligibility requirement that at least one private-sector organisation participates. The transversal topic addresses adaptive reuse of existing buildings and urban spaces, overcoming regulatory and governance barriers while ensuring socially inclusive transformation. Projects should support integrated approaches spanning technological, spatial, regulatory, legal, financial, environmental, social and economic perspectives, and foster co-creation, experimentation and testing of urban innovations. ANR funds only topics 2 and 3 and does not fund projects submitted under the transversal topic 1, and it finances only French teams.
