About this grant

The European Partnership for Resilient Cultural Heritage (RCH), co-funded under Horizon Europe and bringing together 34 funding organisations from 30 countries, announces its first joint transnational call (JTC 2027) for collaborative research and innovation projects. The call aims to strengthen societal resilience through cultural heritage in Europe and beyond, and to reconceive cultural heritage in the face of climate change through an interdisciplinary approach linking human and social sciences, heritage sciences and climate sciences. Projects should produce knowledge and tools useful to decision-makers implementing heritage and climate policy. The indicative total public funding is over 27 million euros. The ANR, the French funder, plans to open the call in October 2026 with a pre-proposal deadline indicated as 11 January 2027, and projects are expected to start from December 2027. The call is organised around four sub-themes: (1) assessment and impact of risks, and risk prevention and management for cultural heritage; (2) loss and damage management for cultural heritage exposed to climate-related natural hazards; (3) traditional, local and indigenous knowledge systems and frameworks for societal resilience to climate change; and (4) sustainable governance of the cultural heritage sector. Only transnational projects are funded. Projects run 24 to 36 months and must include a minimum of three independent eligible partners from at least three countries, requesting funding from at least three participating funders, with a maximum of seven eligible funded partners and at most two funded partners from the same country. Self-funded partners are not limited in number. The process is two-stage: pre-proposals followed by full proposals invited by the call secretariat, submitted through the EPSS platform, with a parallel IRIS registration for ANR-funded partners. Proposals must be in English. The ANR funds only the French partners of selected projects, up to 250,000 euros per partner, or 350,000 euros if the partner is the coordinator.
