About this grant

The Local Action Fund is part of the Climate Justice Impact Fund for Africa (CJIFA), which provides innovative and rapid-response funding to support grassroots initiatives and movements addressing climate change and promoting climate justice across Africa. The fund supports robust engagement of communities at the frontline of the climate crisis together with governmental and private sector partners. CJIFA targets groups and organisations that primarily face funding challenges and may not meet strict conventional requirements of traditional formal funding landscapes, including informal groups lacking registration, groups lacking formal recognition due to their relationship with authorities, and disruptive organisations. The fund aims to produce lasting change through collective activism of those who are structurally excluded, disempowered, exploited, or stigmatised.
