The funders are climate funds, development banks, bilateral aid agencies, UN bodies and health philanthropy. Almost all of them work through accredited entities or implementing partners rather than direct awards, so for most organisations the practical route is to be named on a partner's proposal. The mix matters when you are planning a raise: a public agency and a corporate venture arm fund the same climate adaptation work on very different timelines, at different cheque sizes and against different eligibility rules, so the right first approach is rarely the same one.
