Regenerative agriculture funding
Grants and contracts for soil carbon, cover cropping, agroforestry, and farm-system transitions.
Regenerative ag funding sits at the intersection of climate, food, and rural development, which means the funder landscape is unusually broad. Sovereign programmes (USDA NRCS, EU CAP eco-schemes, UK DEFRA SFI), MDB lines (World Bank, IDB), corporate-supply-chain commitments, and a thick layer of philanthropic capital (Bezos Earth Fund, Rockefeller, ClimateWorks) all fund here.
The non-dilutive cheques are smaller per opportunity than in carbon capture or storage, typical grants range from £25K (single-farm pilots) to £10M (regional transition programmes). Offtake-style funding (corporate buyers paying a premium for regen-grown crops) is growing fast and is often more accessible than the formal grant pipeline.

Frequently asked
Is "regenerative" a defined term for grant eligibility?▾
Not formally. Most programmes specify outcomes (soil organic carbon, biodiversity, water retention) or practices (cover cropping, reduced tillage, agroforestry) rather than using the word "regenerative." Match your application language to the call.
Are there grants for technology providers, not just farmers?▾
Yes, soil-MRV platforms, biological inputs, robotics, and decision-support tools can apply via climate-software-data, agritech, and industrial decarbonization calls. UKRI Innovate UK, USDA SBIR, and EU Horizon are the largest pots for software/hardware vendors.
How do soil carbon credits interact with grants?▾
Most regen ag grants are silent on credits, but a few (notably some USDA Climate-Smart commodities awards) explicitly require credits be retired rather than sold. Read the call carefully, assuming you can stack grant + credit revenue is the most common pitfall.
Which foundations are most active in regen ag in 2026?▾
Bezos Earth Fund (largest cheques), Rockefeller Foundation (food systems), Walton Family Foundation (water-quality nexus), ClimateWorks portfolio members, and a long tail of UK community foundations for local-scale work. Triple Funds Donor Directory lists ~150 active grantmakers in this space.
