Trinkwasserversorgung Magdeburg GmbH (TWM) is procuring engineering planning services for the new construction of a raw water pipeline and a new booster pumping station (Druckerhöhungsstation, DES) in the Colbitz area, together with related works (Rohwasserleitung, RWL). The works are needed to connect an existing granular activated carbon treatment plant (GRWA) at the West intake of the Colbitz waterworks, which would add about 7,000 m³/d (about 300 m³/h) of treatment capacity to the Colbitz waterworks. The overall project anticipates a rise in drinking water demand of about 30,000 m³/d by 2030. The GRWA has two treatment stages: a closed rapid sand filter stage with three filter vessels for iron and manganese removal, and an adsorption stage with four granular activated carbon vessels for removing potential contaminants. The adsorption stage is kept on standby only. The works are being co-financed by public funding and are divided into four sub-projects. The contractor is to perform planning services in HOAI service phases 4 to 8 (execution design through to object supervision/handover) for all four sub-projects. The scope covers Ingenieurbauwerke (civil engineering structures) and technische Ausrüstung (technical building services/equipment), plus, as special services, landscape management support planning (landschaftspflegerische Begleitplanung). Services are to start as soon as possible, from spring 2027, and run until the end of 2029, when the construction works must be completed (31.12.2029).
