Auf den vier, vom Baureferat Abteilung Gartenbau der Stadt München, betriebenen Kompostplätzen sind die anfallenden Kompostierleistungen durchzuführen. Das anfallende Material wird getrennt nach Friedhofabfällen und übrigem organischen Material zwischengelagert. Zur Vermeidung von Geruchsbelästigungen von Anliegern achtet der Betreiber darauf, dass besonders für die Laubkompostierung Strukturmaterial wie Holz, Äste und holziger Siebüberlauf zur Verfügung steht.
