About this grant

Compete Caribbean+ (CC+) is a regional private sector development programme focused on fostering climate resilience and private sector growth across the Caribbean. The programme addresses the interconnected challenges of climate vulnerability, limited business competitiveness, and governance gaps that hinder sustainable economic development in the region. CC+ operates through three pillars: Pillar 1 strengthens Caribbean businesses to become more competitive, climate-smart, and inclusive by enhancing business capacity in clusters and value chains, offering technology extension services, and building public ecosystems that support entrepreneurship and innovation. Pillar 2 improves governance and regulatory frameworks for private sector development and climate action, targeting government line ministries and public agencies with at least 60% of training delivered to women policymakers. Pillar 3 advances climate innovation through research and development by strengthening the capacity of Caribbean research organizations to produce actionable knowledge, with at least 50% participation of women researchers. The programme provides technical assistance to stimulate competitiveness and climate action of Caribbean businesses, particularly focusing on women-owned firms and sectors that employ large proportions of vulnerable groups.

Eligibility

The programme targets beneficiaries across three pillars: private sector businesses (particularly women-owned firms and those in sectors employing vulnerable groups) for Pillar 1; government line ministries and public agencies supporting private sector development for Pillar 2; and Caribbean research organizations for Pillar 3. Geographic eligibility is limited to 13 Caribbean countries where the programme operates. The programme emphasizes inclusiveness with specific targets for women's participation across initiatives.
