About this grant

AgriFI is an EU-funded blending facility managed by the EDFI Management Company that provides medium- to long-term financing to private sector enterprises in agri-food value chains. It responds to a shortage of financing mechanisms suited to smallholders with limited market orientation, vulnerable groups, women and youth, farmers and entrepreneurs, aiming to raise yields, farmer incomes, and the adoption of high environmental and social standards in supply chains. The facility invests in smallholder inclusiveness and/or agribusiness MSMEs, with a value chain approach. The AgriFI-ACP Regional Window is a EUR 50 million part of AgriFI aimed at exemplary projects in member countries of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), with an emphasis on women and youth. Its stated purpose is to help the agricultural sector take part fully in transformation and modernisation and to prepare the sector for climate impacts. Instruments include junior and senior debt, quasi-equity and equity, with flexible commercial terms such as patient capital, local currency lending and flexible use of proceeds. Typical tickets are EUR 0.5 to 5 million with 5-10+ year tenors. Targeted investees are SMEs, financial institutions and impact funds. The page describes investment activity rather than an open call for grant applications; prospective investees are directed to an 'Apply for investment' route.

About this sector

Regenerative agriculture funding supports soil health, cover cropping, reduced tillage, agroforestry and grazing practices that store carbon and restore land. It comes through agricultural support schemes, research programmes and supply-chain initiatives run with food companies. Applicants often need farmer partners, field trial plans and a way to monitor soil outcomes.
