Eligibility
Applicants must have management control of both sides of the hedgerow. The hedgerow must consist of planted boundary lines of shrubs that are at least 20 metres long, less than 5 metres wide between major woody stems at the base, and made up of at least 80% native shrubs. The item cannot be used on lengths of hedgerow already managed under Countryside Stewardship option BE3: Management of hedgerows, capital item BN6: Hedgerow coppicing, or capital item BN7: Hedgerow gapping-up. Work must be carried out when the hedge is dormant, usually between 30 September and 31 March.
