About this grant

Diag Adaptation is a subsidised climate-adaptation diagnostic offered by Bpifrance with support from ADEME. It helps small and mid-sized French companies identify their exposure to physical climate risks such as drought, heatwaves, flooding and hail, and build a first prioritised action plan to reduce those risks and improve resilience. The problem addressed is that many businesses do not know how climate hazards could affect their operations or supply chain. The programme responds with a structured, short-duration expert intervention rather than a broad consultancy engagement. The service totals about 7 days of expert work, spread over 3 to 6 months. An independent expert visits the company site, collects and analyses existing information, and makes on-site observations. The expert assesses how processes and the value chain are affected by climate change today and by 2035 and 2055. The work ends with a summary report and roadmap, followed by a prioritised, costed action plan. The page's figures are internally inconsistent. The headline states 3,000 EUR excluding VAT after a 50% subsidy, while the FAQ describes a 6,000 EUR first invoice (60% of cost) and a 4,000 EUR second invoice, with a 4,000 EUR subsidy paid by Bpifrance after the supporting documents are submitted. The subsidy figure of 4,000 EUR HT is used for budget_max_usd below. The company's own cost share is therefore not clearly stated.

About this sector

Climate adaptation funding helps communities, infrastructure and businesses prepare for heat, flooding, drought and sea level rise. Most of it is public and multilateral money, often targeted at vulnerable regions and delivered with local government. Calls usually ask for a climate risk assessment and evidence that local people shaped the plan.
