About this grant

AXEL is an energy-focused startup accelerator initiated by fokus.energie e.V. in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, designed to help startups in the energy sector move from idea to company formation and accelerate market entry. It is presented as the only accelerator with a 100% focus on energy, funded by Start-up BW and supported by companies, institutions and universities. The page describes three support programmes of differing intensity. The Energy Boot Camp is a 4-day programme for anyone wanting to develop an idea into an energy product or service, covering moving from research to value proposition, from value proposition to a marketable idea, and presenting a product idea effectively. The Team Training runs for 8 weeks and targets startups and visionaries with energy-transition solutions, covering business model development, efficient product development methods, presentation skills, financing requirements, legal and tax aspects, and team building. The Team Development runs for 12 months for energy startups with a mature business model, providing individual mentoring, neutral assessment of success potential, business learning, product development support, early-stage financing introductions, seminars for women founders, subsidised coworking space and PR support. Across the programmes AXEL offers mentoring from over 100 mentors and coaches, a co-working workplace and infrastructure in the Technologiefabrik Karlsruhe, and a network that continues after the programme ends. The page reports more than 300 energy startups supported since 2018 and over 700 founders served.
