About this grant

The Engagement, Change Makers and Climate Governance programme is one of four strategic programmatic areas operated by Instituto Clima e Sociedade (iCS), a Brazilian climate philanthropy organisation. The programme aims to strengthen and contribute to a society that is more active and engaged in agendas for the reduction of inequalities and social and climate justice in Brazil. Through this area, iCS works to expand and diversify the voices that represent the plurality of segments of society, ensuring that a wider range of communities and stakeholders can participate in climate governance discussions. A central focus is the promotion and training of climate collectives that contribute to the development of leaders capable of mobilising, coordinating, and multiplying the formation of other agents of change within their respective segments. The programme is part of iCS's broader mission to combat climate change by building a leading society capable of facing the social, economic, and political challenges that arise from the climate crisis. Since its founding, iCS has provided over 1,305 grants to 512 organisations, disbursing approximately R$780 million in total grants across all its programmatic areas.
