Funding for Early-Career Research Projects in Battery Research: BattFutur – Battery Research Junior Research Groups Grant
Bundesregierung / Förderdatenbank
In context
This call is open to universities and research institutions, at idea and R&D stage. Funding is a grant. Coverage is read from the notice itself: Germany.
BattFutur funds individual research projects on material, process, scaling, digitalisation and recycling questions for rechargeable batteries, with a 5-year grant to universities and non-university research institutions. It is aimed at early-career researchers seeking to build independent research groups in battery technology.
About this grant

Relevant sectors
About this sector
Energy storage funding spans batteries, long-duration storage, thermal storage and the controls that dispatch them. Research calls focus on chemistry and system cost. Demonstration programmes test grid services, while tenders buy capacity, flexibility and installation contracts. Buyers usually want evidence of safety certification, round-trip efficiency and a credible route to grid connection.
