Heating controls grant
In context
This call is open to non-profits, registered charities and local authorities and 3 others. Funding is a grant. Coverage is read from the notice itself: Ireland. The funder accepts early-stage applicants.
This grant funds the installation and upgrade of heating controls systems to improve energy efficiency in buildings across Ireland. It is open to building owners and occupants seeking to reduce energy consumption and heating costs through smart control technologies.
About this grant
The Heating Controls Grant is an individual energy upgrade grant offered by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) to help homeowners and eligible property owners install smart heating controls. The grant supports upgrading existing heating systems with smart controls that match heating and hot water schedules to the way occupants use their home, improving efficiency and comfort without replacing the entire heating system. This is distinct from the Heat Pump System Grant, which funds full heating system replacement. The grant value is a flat €700 (approximately $770 USD) for heating controls installation, regardless of property type. Applicants can manage the process themselves using a registered SEAI contractor, or opt for a One Stop Shop service that manages the full upgrade on their behalf. Once works are completed and a post-works BER assessment is carried out, the grant is paid directly to the applicant's nominated bank account.

Eligibility
Eligible applicants include owner occupiers, companies (including owner management companies), registered charities, holiday home owners, Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs), and non-private and commercial landlords of tenanted properties. The property must have an MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number), must have been built and occupied before 2011, and must be located in Ireland. The grant is not available to applicants who are applying for, or have previously claimed, a Heat Pump System Grant. Works must be carried out by an SEAI-registered contractor. A post-works BER assessment by a registered SEAI BER Assessor is required before the grant can be drawn down.
How it's scored
Applications are processed on a rolling basis rather than through a competitive scoring process. Applicants must meet eligibility criteria, use a registered SEAI contractor, obtain grant approval before works begin, complete works within eight months of the grant offer, and submit the required documentation including a Declaration of Works, a Request for Payment form, and a post-works BER certificate. SEAI may conduct inspections to verify that energy efficiency was improved as expected. There is no stated panel review or competitive scoring.
