About this grant
The Horizon Europe programme funds hydrogen-based decarbonisation projects in cities as part of the EU's Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission. Grants of up to €5 million per project support the development of hydrogen infrastructure, digital solutions and civil engineering works to help cities achieve climate neutrality. Eligible applicants include local authorities, universities, research institutions, nonprofits, small and medium-sized enterprises, large companies and consortia. A multi-stakeholder consortium approach is expected. Projects may be at prototype, pilot or mature scale. Funding covers hydrogen production, distribution and end-use in urban settings, alongside integration of digital solutions and smart city applications. Applications open on 9 February 2027 and close on 7 October 2027.
