About this grant
The Gekko Foundation supports civil society groups and non-profit associations in preparing and conducting non-partisan political campaigns focused on securing GMO-free agriculture and food production, as well as preserving peasant and ecological land use. The foundation funds strategic, longer-term campaigns in the public sphere that can operate at regional, national, or in exceptional cases at European and international levels. Campaigns should be non-partisan and serve public political opinion and will formation. The foundation recognizes that societal and political change requires significant time and engagement, and therefore prioritizes financial support for campaigns with realistic near-term objectives alongside broader long-term visions (such as a nationwide moratorium on cultivation of specific GMO crops). The foundation particularly emphasizes funding for campaigns that employ public actions and protests, including protest rallies, petition drives, and digital media activism, as these forms of civil engagement receive support from very few other foundations. The Gekko Foundation funds campaigns alongside its other support for independent risk research and projects serving education and networking.

Eligibility
