The Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier (CSHT) is expanding to open direct applications from farmers and land managers for the first time, helping more businesses secure funding to restore nature while producing food. Previously, farmers could only apply if invited by Natural England or the Forestry Commission as part of a phased rollout. From summer 2026 onwards, farmers and land managers can begin the application process by submitting an Expression of Interest without requiring an invitation. …
