About this grant

The AGROECOLOGY Partnership, a European partnership on agroecology, is launching its fourth co-funded transnational call for projects, titled "Accelerating the transitions of agroecological systems for resilient and competitive agricultural and food systems". The call responds to climate change, scarce resources, market volatility and geopolitical instability, which together threaten food security, environmental protection and the economic viability of European agriculture. It supports collaborative research and innovation projects aimed at a systemic transition toward resilient and sustainable agricultural and food systems, building on earlier calls and European initiatives. Proposals must use a multi-actor approach and rely on co-creation and co-implementation structures, such as Living Labs or similar approaches. The call covers two themes. Theme 1 focuses on systemic transformation toward agroecological transition, including the design, experimentation and implementation of agroecological innovations at the scale of farming systems, landscapes, territories, value chains and food systems. Theme 2 focuses on agroecology for agricultural resilience, food security and transition implementation, assessing how agroecology contributes to resilience, food security, strategic autonomy and competitiveness, and developing scenarios, governance approaches and incentive measures to support long-term transitions under uncertainty. About 19 countries and regions (provisional list) take part, with an indicative total budget of 25 M€ (status October 2026). The call runs in two stages: pre-proposals close in February 2027, full proposals in July 2027, with selection in October 2027 and projects starting in early 2028. The French component is run by the ANR, with a French-specific information webinar held with the Pays de la Loire Region and Vegepolys Valley.
