About this grant

The Horizon Europe programme funds research and innovation to replace hazardous substances in biocidal products—including pesticides, wood preservatives and antimicrobials—with safer alternatives, preferably derived from biological sources. Projects must demonstrate compliance with the EU Biocidal Products Regulation and contribute to zero-pollution and circular-economy objectives. Grants of up to €4,000,000 per project are available. Eligible applicants include startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, large companies, universities, research institutions and consortia. Participants must be based in EU member states or associated countries. Projects at any stage of development, from early research through to prototype and pilot, are welcome. Applications open on 20 April 2027 and close on 22 September 2027.
