About this grant

EFSA is seeking support from competent organisations to assist in the process leading to the preparation of scientific opinions on the safety of already authorised food additives that are subject to re-evaluation or follow-up assessment under Regulation (EU) No 257/2010. The topic is part of the EU Bodies and Agencies (EUBA) programme and is a single-stage call with a planned opening on 22 October 2026 and a deadline of 28 January 2027 at 17:00 Brussels time. The indicative budget for the 2027 budget year is EUR 300,000, with the grant funding activities that support EFSA's scientific risk assessment work on food additives. The call addresses the need for external scientific capacity to help EFSA process re-evaluations of approved food additives, which require safety assessments to keep the EU authorised additive list current. Activities supported are those contributing to the preparation of scientific opinions under the framework of Regulation (EC) 178/2002 and the additive regulations. Submissions are made through the EU Funding & Tenders Portal. Full details of scope, conditions and documents are set out in the call for proposals document EUBA-EFSA-2026-FIP-01, with a draft framework partnership agreement and draft specific agreement provided.
