Windows and doors grants
In context
This call is open to individuals, non-profits and local authorities and 1 other. Funding is a grant. Coverage is read from the notice itself: Ireland.
This grant funds the installation of energy-efficient windows and doors in buildings to reduce energy consumption and improve thermal performance. It is open to property owners and occupants in Ireland seeking to upgrade their building envelope.
About this grant
The Windows and Doors Grant is an individual home energy upgrade grant provided by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) to help homeowners and eligible property owners tackle high energy costs and improve the comfort of their homes. The grant supports the replacement of existing single or double glazed windows with high-performing, energy-efficient windows (U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or lower) and the replacement of inefficient external doors. The grant aims to reduce heat loss from homes, thereby improving energy efficiency and lowering energy bills. Grant values vary by property type for windows: €1,500 for apartments, €1,800 for mid-terrace homes, €3,000 for semi-detached or end-of-terrace homes, and €4,000 for detached homes. For external doors, the grant is €800 per door with a maximum of two doors. Applicants may apply for the windows grant, the doors grant, or both. Applicants can manage the process themselves by selecting a registered contractor, applying to SEAI, and receiving the grant payment directly upon completion of works. Alternatively, applicants can use a One Stop Shop service that manages the entire process and deducts the grant from the upfront cost. A post-works Building Energy Rating (BER) assessment is required after installation and is itself grant-aided.

Eligibility
Eligible applicants include homeowners, companies and owner management companies, registered charities, holiday home owners, Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs), and landlords. The property must have been built and occupied prior to 2011. The house must have good attic and wall insulation (confirmed either through prior SEAI grants for those measures, a BER Advisory Report rating of 'Good' or 'Very Good', or assessment by a BER assessor). Applicants must be replacing existing single or double glazed windows with high-performing windows rated 1.4 W/m²K or better, and must be replacing inefficient doors. Extensions built after 1 January 2011 are not eligible, but extensions built before that date are eligible. Grants cannot be backdated for works already completed prior to application, except for works ordered or commenced since the government announcement on 27 January (subject to scheme requirements and use of registered contractors).
How it's scored
Applications are assessed on a grant payment criteria basis rather than a competitive scoring process. Eligibility is determined by meeting technical requirements: new windows and doors must meet the required U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or lower, as confirmed on a declaration of works form signed by both the contractor and homeowner. A post-works BER is required after installation. The property must also meet a Heat Loss Indicator (HLI) value of 2.3 W/K·m² or lower, or have attic and wall insulation noted as 'Good' or 'Very Good' in the post-works BER Advisory Report. SEAI may carry out inspections before releasing payment.
