Philippines-Canada Partnership on Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for Climate Adaptation
Nature-based Solutions or NbS are widely recognized as cost-effective actions that protect, restore, and sustainably manage natural and modified ecosystems to address societal challenges – such as climate change, food and water security, and disaster risk reduction.
In 2024, Forest Foundation Philippines partnered with the Government of Canada to implement the Philippines-Canada Partnership on Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for Climate Adaptation (PCP4NbS). With approximately C$8 Million (332 Million Philippine Pesos), in funding, the Program seeks to enhance the climate resilience of communities, empower women, and ensure co-benefits from, and for, natural resources and healthy ecosystems. This fund will be managed by the Foundation and will support local organizations in implementing holistic, community-based, and gender-responsive initiatives based on NbS principles. The Program covers new project sites as well as existing focal areas of the Foundation. It will directly support gender-responsive, community-based NbS implementation through site-based, thematic, and public support grants, towards achieving the three wins of biodiversity conservation, climate adaptation, and ensuring gender equality in natural resource management.
