About this tender

Swissgrid AG seeks a General Planner (Generalplaner SIA 32-53) for the expansion of the 220-kV substation in Regensdorf, canton Zurich. The substation's gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), installed in 2021, requires expansion with two additional fields (transformer field and reserve field) plus necessary cable connections. The General Planner will be responsible for planning and coordination across SIA phases 32-53 (with phases 51-53 as optional). The role includes overall project management, coordination of all involved technical disciplines (primary technology, auxiliary power supply, civil works), and engineering planning. The General Planner must manage multi-discipline coordination per SIA 103 while certain services (BIM coordination, substation automation, environmental planning) are provided by the client. Contract duration aligns with execution timelines in the contract draft (Document A1). The tender is published under Swiss public procurement law and is open to international participants.

About this sector

Grid modernisation covers transmission, distribution, smart meters, interconnectors and the software that balances a network with more variable supply. Funding comes as innovation calls for network operators and suppliers as well as large public tenders for equipment and works. Applicants are usually asked to show technical readiness and experience working with regulated network companies.
