Large Slurry Mixer 2026 Tender
National Research Council of Canada (NRC)
In context
This is a contract notice published by a government body covering the supply of goods. Delivery covers Canada (NORTH-AMERICA). It is classified under Energy Storage against the sustainability taxonomy rather than matched on keywords.
The National Research Council of Canada is seeking information on commercially available large planetary and dispersive slurry mixers with vacuum, temperature control, and data logging for battery electrode prototyping. Equipment suppliers and mixing-system vendors able to handle NMP, DMF, DMSO, GVL, and water-based slurries are the best fit.

About this tender
The National Research Council of Canada (NRC), through its Clean Energy Innovation Research Centre (CEI) in Boucherville, Québec, is seeking information regarding commercially available large slurry mixers suitable for the preparation of viscous battery electrode slurries used in a battery prototyping line. The mixer will be used to prepare electrode slurries for advanced battery technologies, including lithium-ion and emerging battery chemistries. The equipment is intended to improve slurry preparation efficiency, process consistency, scalability, and operational flexibility while supporting research, development, and prototyping activities. The NRC requires a robust and versatile mixing platform capable of handling viscous slurries under controlled temperature and vacuum conditions while providing process monitoring and data logging capabilities. NRC is seeking information on equipment compatible with common battery slurry solvents, including water, N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP), Gamma-Valerolactone (GVL), Dimethylformamide (DMF), and Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO). Objectives: The primary objective of this Request for Information (RFI) is to identify and evaluate commercially available large slurry mixers suitable for the preparation of battery electrode slurries in a research and pilot-scale environment. NRC is particularly interested in systems that provide: • High-performance planetary and dispersive mixing capabilities. • Vacuum-assisted mixing and degassing. • Temperature control during mixing operations. • Compatibility with aggressive battery slurry solvents and materials. • Automated process control and data logging. • Flexibility for future process development and scale-up activities. • Safe operation by a single user. The information gathered through this RFI will assist NRC in understanding the current state of available technologies, identifying relevant capabilities and limitations, and informing the development of future technical requirements.

About this sector
Energy storage funding spans batteries, long-duration storage, thermal storage and the controls that dispatch them. Research calls focus on chemistry and system cost. Demonstration programmes test grid services, while tenders buy capacity, flexibility and installation contracts. Buyers usually want evidence of safety certification, round-trip efficiency and a credible route to grid connection.
