Who raised in climate and sustainability: fortnight to 8 October 2026

By Andrew Holden

Every week Raise Lens picks up funding rounds from news feeds, investor portfolio pages and funder announcements, and files them under Recently raised. This post covers the rounds from the fortnight to 8 October 2026 that we could check against the original announcement, then sets them against the past 30 days of data.

The fortnight in numbers

  • 3 checked rounds between 25 September and 8 October 2026
  • USD 179.1 million across the three rounds (Skytree's EUR 1 million loan counted at the USD 1.1 million reported)
  • Round mix: one Series B, one development loan and one round with no stage given
  • Countries: Germany, Switzerland and a project in Iceland

One round, Reverion's Series B, accounts for 98% of the US dollar total (USD 175 million of USD 179.1 million).

The rounds

Reverion: USD 175 million Series B (Germany)

Reverion builds containerised solid oxide power plants that turn biogas or renewable natural gas into electricity without combustion, capture the biogenic CO2 and can run in reverse to make hydrogen or synthetic methane. The round was led by Kembara, a deeptech scale-up fund managed by Mundi Ventures, with Allianz, KfW Capital, Aurum Impact and Carbon Equity alongside existing backers (Carbon Herald, 1 October 2026).

A Series B of this size usually funds manufacturing scale-up and first commercial plants. That puts the company in front of utilities, biogas operators and municipal buyers, many of which procure through public tenders.

Cotierra: USD 3 million (Switzerland)

Zurich-based Cotierra supplies decentralised biochar systems for agricultural value chains, with hardware for producing biochar near the biomass and software for monitoring, traceability and reporting. Carbon Removal Partners and PINC, the venture arm of Paulig, led the round, with Zürcher Kantonalbank, Carbon Drawdown Initiative and several impact funds and angels. The company reports about USD 4.75 million raised to date (Carbon Herald, 30 September 2026).

Early-stage carbon removal companies in Europe often pair equity with venture funds that back carbon removal. One example on Raise Lens is Course Corrected VC Fund II, listed with up to USD 71.5 million for early-stage climate technology including carbon removal.

Skytree: EUR 1 million development loan (project in Iceland)

Skytree secured a development loan of EUR 1 million (reported as USD 1.1 million) from Invest International to develop its first Skypark, a regional direct air capture hub in Iceland (Carbon Herald, 7 October 2026).

This is a different kind of capital from a venture round: a development loan from a public finance institution ties the money to one named project. Project-level finance like this is often the step before construction tenders and offtake agreements.

The month so far: 8 September to 8 October 2026

Source: Raise Lens Recently raised signals, rounds dated in the window (or detected in it when the source gives no date). Counts are parsed from the signal text and have not each been checked by hand.

  • 25 rounds in 30 days, 20 of them with a disclosed amount in US dollars
  • Top sectors (a round can sit in more than one): carbon removal 9, industrial decarbonisation 6, renewable energy 6, low-carbon materials 6, carbon capture 5
  • Top countries: United States 10, United Kingdom 4, EU-wide 4, Germany 2, Switzerland 2
  • Round mix where stated: debt 4, Series A 2, seed 2, grant or prize 2, Series B 1; 14 rounds gave no stage

Carbon removal leads both the fortnight and the month. Debt is the most common stated round type, which fits a market where companies are moving from pilots to first projects.

This monthly snapshot is a running series. Each month's figures will feed the Raise Lens quarterly report on sustainable finance.

How we compile this

Raise Lens classifies items from news feeds, investor portfolio pages and funder sites as "Recently raised" when a named company has closed a funding round. For this post we kept only rounds whose amount and investors we could confirm in the original announcement. "Disclosed" means the announcement gave an amount. Where a source dates the round, we use that date rather than the date we found it.
