It is aimed at businesses and freelance professionals in Bavaria financing new or modernised renewable energy projects.
About this grant
The Bayerisches Energiekreditprogramm, product Energiekredit Regenerativ, provides interest-subsidised loans to businesses and freelancers investing in renewable energy generation in Bavaria. The Freistaat Bayern supports the programme together with KfW Bankengruppe and the LfA Förderbank Bayern, which administers it. The loans fund new builds and modernisation of installations producing electricity or heat/cooling from renewable sources, storage systems for renewable electricity and for thermal/cold storage fed by renewables, and investments in flexibilising electricity demand and supply (for example industrial or cross-company load management). Digitalisation measures that support system-compatible integration of renewables, investments in renewable hydrogen electrolysers under AGVO Art. 2 No. 102c, and investments in district heating networks are also eligible, subject to additional conditions for heating networks (BEW alignment and state-aid-free structuring). Loans are granted as interest-subsidised loans with a maximum loan amount of EUR 10 million per project (EUR 100 million for district heating), with a minimum eligible cost threshold of EUR 25,000. Financing may cover up to 100% of eligible expenditure. Partial tilgungszuschuss (repayment subsidy) is possible. The loans are applied for via the applicant's house bank, which forwards the application to LfA; LfA may release the house bank 50% from liability for loans up to EUR 2 million. The programme is discretionary, with no legal entitlement, subject to available budget funds. Aid is provided mainly under AGVO Art. 17 or the de minimis regulation, with some products under AGVO Art. 41. Land purchase, operating and financing costs, biogas production investments and several other categories are excluded.
