About this grant

The Hessian loan programme for photovoltaic systems on residential buildings owned by private builders and owners is run by the Wirtschafts- und Infrastrukturbank Hessen (WIBank) together with the Hessian Ministry for Economy, Energy, Transport, Housing and Rural Areas and KfW. It supports private homeowners who want to buy and install a photovoltaic system on a residential property they own. The funding covers the purchase and installation of a PV system including grid connection, with an installed capacity of up to 20 kW. It also covers a battery storage system linked to a newly installed PV system, and control and regulation technology linked to a new PV system that optimises self-consumption. Support is provided as a loan rather than a grant. The loan amounts to up to 90% of total investment costs, with a minimum of 10,000 EUR and a maximum of 50,000 EUR, and has a term of 10 years. Applications must be submitted through the WIBank customer portal before installation work begins. The programme's aim is to expand decentralised renewable generation and increase self-consumption of solar power in Hesse.
