About this grant

The Heat Training Grant provides funding towards the cost of training for people working in heat networks. Eligible participants can receive a grant of up to £500 towards eligible courses in areas including heat network feasibility and design, heat network construction, heat network operation and maintenance, metering, billing and data collection, and training for local authorities and developers. Courses offered under the scheme cost up to £600, so the grant covers all or most of the course cost. Each person may receive one grant. The grant is administered by the Midlands Net Zero Hub on behalf of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Applications are made through approved training providers, who apply for the grant on the applicant's behalf. The scheme was first published in September 2023 and has been updated several times since, including the addition of training providers and the inclusion of Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme training from the BESA Academy.
