About this grant
The ADEME solar thermal investment aid, financed through the Fonds Chaleur, helps organisations install solar thermal systems that produce collective domestic hot water. It is intended to reduce the energy impact of buildings and operations by supporting renewable heat production. The aid covers projects in collective housing, the tertiary sector, industry and agriculture, as well as operations coupled to heating networks. The scheme sits within the EnR'Choix approach, which asks project holders to first demonstrate sobriety and energy efficiency measures, the pooling of heat production where possible, recovery of available waste heat, and consideration of other local renewables such as geothermal and solar thermal. Solar thermal is presented as a renewable heat solution with many advantages, to be weighed against other options such as biomass, which is best reserved for high-temperature needs. Applicants are expected to first carry out a feasibility study to size the installation and assess the usable solar output. They then submit an aid application. The grant is calculated as a flat-rate amount depending on the geographic zone of the installation and the surface area of the solar system. ADEME also offers support across the project lifecycle, including an opportunity note, feasibility study, project management assistance and advice. The aid is granted mainly through ADEME regional directorates, and prior contact with the relevant regional office is strongly recommended. Applications are filed on the AGIR platform, which requires an account. The aid is shown as in progress for 2026.
