About this tender

The City of Calgary is procuring a complete, coordinated, safe, maintainable and commissionable LRT track system under RFP 26-1648 (Track Package). The package covers Scope A (Main Line Track, from Ramsay Inglewood Station in the north to the southern project limit), Scope B (Maintenance & Storage Facility (MSF) track), and Scope C (the combined Scopes A and B). Work includes supply, fabrication, delivery, installation, adjustment, inspection and acceptance of running rail, ties, ballast, direct fixation assemblies, embedded track components, fittings, guard rails, insulated joints, expansion joints, rail anchors, lubricators, special trackwork (turnouts, crossovers), switch heaters, level crossings, track drainage interfaces, cable containment, track troughs and second-pour concrete plinths. Ballasted track runs from top of rail to top of sub-ballast, and direct fixation track runs from top of rail to the bottom of the plinths. The proponent must also design and implement all Temporary Works, provide support of excavation, manage laydown areas and traffic, and apply construction noise, vibration and environmental mitigation. System assurance covers FAT, FIT, PICO, SAT, integrated interface testing, trial running, closeout evidence and acceptance testing. Responsibilities extend across design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, handover and warranty. Interfaces with other construction packages include stations, bridges, the MSF building, public roads and pedestrian crossings, utilities, transition slabs, temporary tie-ins, communications and traction power systems, and signaling and train control systems. The estimated contract period is 33 months, with a proposed start date of 2026-12-17.
