This Horizon Europe Cluster 5 programme, administered in the Netherlands by RVO, funds research, innovation and demonstration work toward a climate-neutral Europe by 2050, spanning energy, climate and mobility. It targets research and education institutions, industry and NGOs, with calls and deadlines that vary by call.
About this grant
Cluster 5 of Horizon Europe contributes to a climate-neutral Europe by 2050. It aims to accelerate green and digital transitions and transform the economy, industry and society. Projects in the cluster contribute to a climate-neutral energy and mobility sector by 2050. Cluster 5 funds research and innovation with a focus on climate change adaptation, ecosystems, progress towards climate neutrality, sustainable energy systems, CO2 capture and storage, batteries, energy-efficient buildings, smart and zero-emission transport, safe mobility solutions, and green, fair and inclusive services for cities and citizens. The cluster's work programme contains several calls for proposals organised under six objectives: climate sciences and responses for the transformation towards climate neutrality; cross-sectoral solutions for the climate transition; sustainable, secure and competitive energy supply; efficient, sustainable and inclusive energy use; clean and competitive solutions for all transport modes; and safe, resilient transport and smart mobility services for passengers and goods. Projects are expected to contribute to the European Green Deal, the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals. Proposals are submitted through the European Commission's Funding & Tenders Portal, where open calls and participation rules are published. The Netherlands National Contact Point (RVO) advises organisations on preparing proposals, runs training and information sessions, and provides an annotated proposal template (RIA/IA version 5.0). The page is a national support resource rather than a standalone grant with its own budget.
