About this grant

The Bonus réparation (repair bonus) is a mechanism funded by extended producer responsibility (REP) eco-organisations, which use part of their budgets to finance repair funds. The bonus is paid to certified repairers, who must pass its value on to the customer as a reduction in the repair price. Example given: a tailor repairing a jacket zip is paid 60 EUR in total, the customer pays 46 EUR and the eco-organisation reimburses the repairer 14 EUR via the bonus. The bonus is never less than 10% of the estimated repair cost, and amounts are set per product type and repair type by the certifying eco-organisation. The scheme addresses the cost barrier to repair for waste-generating products, aiming to extend product life and reduce waste. Covered product categories include electrical and electronic equipment, furniture and soft furnishings, textiles, footwear and household linen, toys, sports and leisure articles (including bicycles and non-motorised micromobility), and DIY and garden articles. Repairs under legal or commercial warranty, repairs carried out at a distance inconsistent with the proximity principle, and repairs of exclusively professional products are excluded. Repairers become eligible by obtaining a certification label specific to their product sector, such as QualiRépar for electrical equipment, Écomaison for furniture and toys, Refashion for textiles and footwear, and BonusRépar (Ecologic) for sports articles and thermal garden machines. Certified repairers commit to offering at least a three-month commercial guarantee and to informing consumers about the bonus through signage and their website. Qualification conditions such as a diploma or certification may apply. Eco-organisations must decide within three months of receiving a complete file, after which the label is deemed granted. Certified repairers are reimbursed by the eco-organisation within 15 days of receiving a copy of the repair invoice. Invoices must show the total price, the bonus amount and the net cost paid by the customer. The Répar'acteurs label, run by the CMA and ADEME, is a separate scheme and is not linked to the repair fund.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are professional repairers who obtain certification (labellisation) from the eco-organisation responsible for the relevant product category, and who then pass the bonus on to their customers. Certification criteria include a minimum three-month commercial guarantee on repairs, public display of the bonus conditions, and professional qualification requirements set by each eco-organisation. Eligibility depends on the product category: electrical and electronic equipment, furniture, textiles and footwear, toys, sports and leisure articles, and DIY and garden articles. Automotive and motorcycle repair, building trade works, and repairs of exclusively professional products are excluded. The repair must be carried out in proximity to where the customer dropped off the item, and must not fall under warranty. The page does not specify geographic restrictions beyond French territory.
