About this tender
The Carbon Trust, on behalf of the Floating Wind Joint Industry Programme (JIP), is running the In-Situ Major Component Replacement Innovation Competition (IMRCI), calling for proposals from companies, organisations, individuals and consortia developing innovative in-situ major component replacement solutions for offshore wind turbines. Enabling major components to be repaired or replaced offshore could reduce the need to tow floating turbines back to port, minimising turbine downtime, vessel and port requirements, operational complexity and maintenance costs. The competition aims to accelerate development and deployment readiness of practical, scalable and cost-effective technologies applicable to both fixed-bottom and floating offshore wind. Priority challenge areas are: blade and blade-bearing replacement; gearbox and generator replacement for geared turbines; and main-bearing replacement for direct-drive turbines. Proposals should demonstrate credible maturity, scalability and applicability to current and next-generation turbine architectures (15MW+). Selected solution providers may undertake targeted technical de-risking and concept development, prepare validation and testing strategies, and define an evidence-based pathway towards future demonstration and commercial deployment. Full offshore demonstrations are excluded from scope. Up to four shortlisted concepts may progress through subsequent project stages, with funding not necessarily equal and tailored to maturity and identified risks. Funded project activities are expected to run for approximately seven months.
Bidder eligibility
Open to companies, organisations, individuals and consortia developing innovative in-situ major component replacement solutions for offshore wind turbines. Bidders must submit a Main Bid Document, a signed Tender Certificate and a completed Bid Price Calculation Sheet. Detailed eligibility conditions are set out in the Contractors conditions and Description of tender documents, which were not included in the page text.
How bids are scored
Not disclosed on the page. Proposals are expected to demonstrate credible maturity, scalability and applicability to current and next-generation (15MW+) turbine architecture. Scoring methodology is set out in the Description of tender document (not available in page text).

About this sector
Renewable energy funding covers solar, wind, hydropower, geothermal and bioenergy, from early research to grid-scale deployment. Public money tends to back demonstration, grid connection and access to energy in emerging markets, while procurement notices buy installation, operation and maintenance. Calls often ask for proof of resource assessment, permitting progress and local partners.
