The Soutien à l'économie de la fonctionnalité et de la coopération aid from ADEME helps organisations develop an innovative service offering that replaces the simple sale of a product with the supply of useful effects (benefits) for users, such as individuals, businesses or local authorities. It is based on the functional and cooperative economy model, which shifts the relationship between supply and demand away from selling goods or services toward delivering outcomes that meet real needs while supporting sustainability. The model is presented as offering economic benefits (a user-centred approach, durable activity, differentiation and customer loyalty), ecological benefits (moving away from volume-based production, pooling and extending product life to reduce resource use), social benefits (positive societal effects and valuing employees' skills), and territorial benefits (cooperative dynamics linked to local challenges). The aid specifically finances a diagnostic or support study that analyses the scope of the need or function to be satisfied and sizes the corresponding service offer. ADEME may fund up to 80% of the cost of this study.
